Day Trip Boating & Trekking from Pokhara

Begnas Lake is a freshwater lake in Kaski district of Nepal located in the south-east of the Pokhara Valley. The lake is the second largest, after Phewalake, among the eight lakes in Pokhara Valley. Water level in the lake fluctuates seasonally due to rain, and utilization for irrigation. The water level is regulated through a dam constructed in 1988 on the western outlet stream, KhudiKhola.

There are several interesting village trails crisscrossing the Begnas area offering possibilities of day hikes ranging from 2 to 6 hours depending on one’s interest. There are several colourful villages in the vicinity that one can visit to study the life-style of Nepal’s ethnic hill people. Guests can go bird-watching, nature-walking, boating or even line-fishing in the lake. For the mountain lover, three major peaks over 8,000 meters belonging to the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges are clearly visible from here.
